THIS TRI-POD IS PROOF YOU DON’T NEED TO HAVE ALL 4 LEGS TO LIVE YOUR BEST LIFE AND HAVE FUN!

 THE BASICS:

  • HOUND MIX – Tri-color “tripod” – missing left hind leg following amputation after being hit by vehicle.
  • ADULT MALE; Est DOB: 2012
  • ARRIVAL: June 15, 2019
  • HISTORY:  Elmer was found roadside as a stray and taken to a high kill shelter.  The shelter believes he was hit by a car.  Luckily, he was able to receive the immediate medical care needed to save his life but that would be only the first hurdle for him to overcome.  After months of being overlooked and the shelter filling up,  when space became an issue, we spoke up for this grand, southern fellow!

Elmer just wants to be heard! This very vocal six- to eight-year-old hound mix is proof that it doesn’t take all four legs to make a great best buddy. Elmer was found roadside having been hit by a car and taken to a high kill shelter. His leg was shattered and needed to be removed. Elmer quickly proved that he was just as good on 3 legs as he was on 4.
Elmer loves everyone! He’s never met a stranger and has proven that he still has a lot of life in him. He’s a happy, goofy guy and brings all the lovable traits to the pet table that you would expect from a hound. Elmer is an extremely friendly and sociable guy who enjoys walking, mingling with other dogs or just hanging out! He uses his big hound bark when he feels he needs a bit more attention, but quiets down with company. Who wouldn’t love this terrific tripod?

Mid August 2019 Off Site Event Update:  It’s official.  I was a huge hit at my first off site event.  I was invited to join the nice folks at Orvis as they opened their doors to support animal rescues in the area.   I was a master, yes master meeter/greeter to everyone who came over to say, “hi!”  I was calm and never jumped on anyone.  Customers who brought in their own dogs found me to be pleasant and welcoming and while I really wanted to bark and perhaps make an announcement or two,  I remained nice and quiet!   I did a wonderful job roaming around the store and frankly found it all very intriguing.  Even peering out the front store window was a curiosity of sorts to me.   Who would have thought this whole other world was just waiting for me to explore?  Wag. Wag.  Elmer
