Andre
E-mail to a friend
Found setting up shop with his mom and 2 siblings under a wood pile, Andre breathed a huge sigh of relief when he and his family were rescued and brought to CFC. Sadly, his two siblings were too young and too sick and did not survive. Now challenged to make a life of his own without help from his siblings, Andre has made a huge go of it with the help of other kittens in his room. Outgoing, friendly and always on the hunt for a new game of swatting at a catnip mouse, Andre packs a lot of personality into his tiny frame.

PLEASE SPONSOR ME-CHECK IT OUT HERE.
April was originally found in a dumpster site so her ultimate dream is to live the warm fuzzy pillow-life in someone's home. April is very shy. She loves to be touched but will never ask for it. She accepts gentle interaction with people but you have to seek her out. Afterall, the prettiest girls never make the first move! She loves being with other cats and while she will sometimes hiss at people, she is certainly not violent.

Booth
E-mail to a friend
Fast to hop on the opportunity to join the ranks of other FELV+ cats on the CFC campus, Booth felt like he had won the jackpot when he finally had a safe home after leading the life as a stray. Quickly integrating into his new cat colony, Booth is a gentle fellow who freely gives out head butts. Fabulous at making eye contact, Booth sports a huge grin when receiving chin rubs and eagerly flops to the floor so you can easily rub his belly. Only next to a permanent home, a soft, welcoming lap is at the top of Booth's list as the best place to pass the time. FELV+

Boyd
E-mail to a friend
Talk about a discriminating guy! That's me all right. Grin. Grin. While lots of other kitties eagerly fork over the "free loving," I tend to hold mine back and allow my humanoids earn it. Since arriving as a stray at CFC, I have overheard conversations about how far I have come. I think the staff is trying to say that I am becoming more approachable and more tolerant of all the other kitties who live in MY room! I feel I have a long road ahead of me but am up for the challenge. Stop on by and help me along the way! FIV+

Cameron
E-mail to a friend
HI! My name is Cameron and sadly I had to pack my bags and move into CFC when my person's home burned down. Imagine the shock to my system after having the same home for over 7 years. Being the resilient, flexible guy that I am, I have made a fairly easy adjustment to my new home. Currently, I share my quarters with several other cats and I totally thrill in hanging out on my secluded spot on top of one of our cages. After sweet talking me for just a few minutes, I will reward you with body bumping and rhythmic purring. I am a very attentive kitty who looks forward to taking that next step into my new home.

I am fast to reward you with the "music" of gentle purring and some light albeit good conversation. I know I am a super special kitty so rather than approaching you as you step over the threshold to my home, I will patiently wait for you to discover me. Hope to see you soon. FIV+

Casey
E-mail to a friend
Casey was rescued as a semi feral stray by a Richmond cat rescue and transferred to CFC. He is a very shy fellow however he has hooked up with his own "clan" of kitty friends at the shelter and feels right at home. The group of them love hanging out of top of one of the cages and are oftentimes seen cleaning and grooming each other. Casey wil tolerate human attention for now and we are working on him to actually seek us out! He has a ways to go but is making strides every day!

I love it when people call me the "Purr-a-Matic." You see, even before a gentle hand actually starts to stroke me, I start to purr. No, really! I am one of the sweetest, calmest kitties in the county. People are initially draw to me to check out my missing front paw (I came in via animal control at a county shelter with a bloody stump so no one knows how I was injured) but they keep coming back for more loving and attention as I am such a huge love bug. So very, very gentle and soft as a velveteen rabbit, people are captivated by me which makes me smile a huge smile and twitch my tail. Miss China was born in approx. June of 2007, and came to CFC as part of a colony of cats who could no longer be properly cared for. She was pregnant when she arrived and had five beautiful babies. As a mom, she was caring and very gentle. Today, China is very friendly and lovable and has become a full figured gal. While she gets along with everyone in her room, she prefers to sit back and watch her roommates put on a new, fresh show each day. China is more than ready to kick back and relax in a new home now that her kittens are on their own.

Choxie
E-mail to a friend
Hi! My name is Choxie and I have been told I am a very distinguished looking kitty with my smoky grey jacket and heart shaped dusting of white on my chest. Originally when I arrived at CFC, I was a bit tenative and shy but I have now totally blossomed into my sweet, curious, spontaneous self! Like most cats, it's not unusual for me randomly sprint across my room and attack an unsuspecting toy. I eagerly greet visitors to "my" room with a body rub on their leg and then encourage them to make a lap for me to relax in! Should you decide to stop by to meet me, don't forget to bring me an interactive toy as this will make my day. PS. I am FELV Positive, so I would need to go to a home as an only kitty, or a home with another FELV Positive cat.

Cole
E-mail to a friend
Arriving with his two siblings, Wyatt and Lena who are also a striking solid black, this shy trio was quickly nicknamed the "Three-Headed Monster" as they would huddle under one of the kitty condos on wheels and periodically peek out to see if the coast was clear. They now know for sure the coast is clear and safe and have done a great job in integrating with the plethora of other kitties in their room. Today, instead of hiding from everyone, these kitties are boldly venturing out and delighting in the cat trees, catnip mice and feather toys which welcome them at every turn in their new home. Be the first one in the county to bring home one of our exclusive Three-Headed Monsters. As unique as this trio is, they won't last long!

Cous Cous
E-mail to a friend
HI! My name is Cous Cous and I started out life living in a single bedrooom with a family that deeply loved me. You see, there were other cats in the home and I was perhaps too eager to garner ALL the attention so I was confined to my own quarters. Smile, smile. Good news for me is that I was surrendered to CFC so I did not spend my entire life in a bedroom. Here at the sanctuary, I am learning to share my new living quarters with other kitties and have recently been upgraded to hang out in the main work/kitchen area at the Scratching Post. The staff comments that I have made some huge strides at co-existing with the other residents. At times I will allow you to accept me into your lap and give me back scratches and belly rubs. Be forewarned like other kitties with attitudes, I will let you know when your time is up! I'll be hanging out on the top level of the cat tree so look for me here when you stop on by!FIV+

Damien

Damien was rescued after being hit by a car. He sustained very serious injuries and to make matters worse, he was FIV positive. The vet suggested euthansia but his rescuer, Annette, and her daughter felt he had a lot of life and tons of love left in him. Who can resist his sweet one-eyed face when he looks up at you asking for affection? He arches his back to meet your hand when you pet him and seems so appreciative of the care and love he receives at CFC. FIV+

Found just one foot from a busy road, my family really lucked out in landing a spot here at CFC. My mom, Goldilocks did her best to keep me and my siblings, Marty and Colby safe, but in the end she needed a helping paw which she found through CFC. Here at the sanctuary, I am having such a blast hanging out in the kitty room. I spend my time chasing tiny balls around, swatting at a toy which has a small flower at the tip and meeting other kitties as they keep pouring in. At the end of the day however, what will really make me happy is to wind up in someone's lap as a permanent member of the family. Stop by today and see why I am such a great kitty!

E-mail to a friend
HI! With a name like mine you can rest assured that I measure up to the scale of a double-wide cat! In looking at my face, you might correctly surmise that I am a more serious kitty who opts for a more independent lifestyle. I started out life as a stray in a Richmond park so providing for myself was essential. I have now grown more and more accustomed to kind hands reaching to luxuriate in my deep grey fur but I still have a ways to go. I am pleased to report however that I have fully integrated into my communal living environment and rather enjoy sitting back and taking in the antics of all my roommates!FIV+

Found wandering through a small community with a broken leg, I was taken in by a kind soul who rushed me to the vet so I could be put back together. Amazingly I found my way to CFC, where I think they had a special opening for a cat with a previously broken leg. LOL!! My foster mom communicated with CFC that in addition to being an attention monger, I love curling up and hanging out with people. Good with other cats and so very friendly and affectionate, my foster mom was very sad to see me leave but she could not keep me long term, so off I went! I have recovered 100% and am pleased to announce I am ready to pack my bags and set up shop in your home as your new pet.

From her perspective, how could you need or want any more cats, when you have her?? Good question.

Hillary
E-mail to a friend
HI! My name is Hillary and like my former person, we have both been rehomed. My elderly "person" moved into an assisted living home and sadly I was not able to join her. Having grown up in a relatively quiet sedate lifestyle and with one person, you can well imagine this has been a big period of adjustment for me. For now, I am more content in watching everyone in my common kitty room from the special perch in my large, open kitty condo. If slowly approached I will "allow" you to slowly pet me but will "advise" you when your time is up! The way I look at things, I am a particular gal who does not easily give out free love. I am working on loosening up as I think this could be a better approach for me to find my new perfect home. Come stop by today and see how I am doing. The more visitors I receive, the more acclimated I will become.

I rewarded my new friend with the classic figure eight dance step at their feet and then quickly jumped up on my perch to give them a full head butting session. My sleek body causes a lot of heads to turn but my easy going, gentle personality keeps them coming back for more! One of my favorite perches at the sanctuary is the ruby red table which allows me to completely stretch out and soak up the sun. Look for me here when you stop on by! I am apt to be surrounded by lots of other kitties so don't be sucked into a cheap immitation. Accept only me. Smile. Smile. FIV+

Jake
E-mail to a friend
HI! My name is Jake and I along with my best buddy and friend, Mercury keep an eye on Jewel (Vet Tech) and her staff as they prepare and clean up meals in MY kitchen where I live in the T&E building. Twice daily I supervise their activities and let me tell you, it is a full time job. When I am not on the clock, likely you will find me curled up in a newly discarded box waiting to be relocated to the recycle bin or I may decide to shake things up and actually use a freshly positioned towel atop the cabinet which I call my official "bed." In between my naps, I am always open to random body rubs and pets as people make their way to Jewel's office and are forced to walk right by me. I know I am a favorite as I have a lot of repeat visitors and I reward their attention with huge purrs and all over body rolls! I am FIV positive.

Jasper
E-mail to a friend
HI! My name is Jasper and I was told just the other day that I am "awesome!" You should have seen me beam and my tail dance with excitement. You see, a staff worker was introducing me to a volunteer and in addition to being awesome, she described me as a "sweetheart," and "a huge love bug." I can tell you that I also crave attention, can be rather chatty at times and could frankly do without the company of other cats (although I put up with them!). Stop by today and see why I am one of the staff favorites!

HI! My favorite staff person was cradling me the other day when it was time for me to be interviewed for my bio. You should have heard some of the wonderful words she used to describe me....words like super sweet, soft, silky, lovebug, good with other cats and best cat ever. My tail flipped back and forth as my ego enflated and my smile grew larger and larger. To think I was originally scooped out of the middle of a road at 3wks of age for being mistaken as a squirrel and to then wind up in such caring arms, is truly unbelievable! Life is good and even though I am FeLV+ , I know an understanding, loving person will read about me and welcome me into their home.

Able to hold his end of a conversation with his distinctive voice, Kahuna gets along great with other kitties and boy does he love his catnip!

Kelsey was a stray found by a Fork Union Animal Clinic client. She paid his medical bills but was unable to keep him though she would have loved to. He is such a dear guy. He is a sweetheart as you can tell by his pictures. Kelsey loves to be near you and is a ham for the camera. He gets along well with his roommates and would make a wonderful addition to a forever family.

KingGeorge
E-mail to a friend
King George came to CFC as a stray covered with scabs and scratches from cat fights (though likely, he was not the instigator). He brought with him in fact a cat toenail which was embedded in his shoulder! Today, King George is a large, regal-looking cat. KG at times can be pushy with other cats but it never gets rough. He really loves people and enjoys neck rubs. If given a choice, he would be so very pleased to hang out in the lap of a person he has just met and allow them to slather him with all sorts of deep stroking and pets. King George has a reputation of hooking up and befriending some of the younger kitties in his room and is oftentimes spotted sharing his extra energy with the young ones. He is FIV positive.

Arriving with her two siblings, Cole and Wyatt who are also a striking solid black, this shy trio was quickly nicknamed the "Three-Headed Monster" as they would huddle under one of the kitty condos on wheels and periodically peek out to see if the coast was clear.

Lilly
E-mail to a friend
Lilly, just like the flower, adds a touch of beauty and sweetness to any room! Since arriving at CFC in 2009,
she has quickly gained a reputation of being an attention monger and if able, will try to pig any petting sessions when volunteers filter through her room. She puts on quite the show when being rubbed as her whole body rolls round and round and quivers with much excitement. Some of her roommates have commented on her short stubby legs and plump stocky tail but she simply smiles and reminds them that her cute little body makes her stand out in any crowd. Stop by today and meet the cat who can never get enough human attention!

After my family developed allergies to pristine me, I found myself scrambling for a new home. Panic set in when the kind lady who rescued me hours before my time was "up" at a high kill shelter, discovered that I was FELUK+. For most kitties, this is their end of the road. The last hoorah. Good news for me however is that CFC had a special spot waiting just for me. Based on the comments from staff, I am not out of line in saying that they are beyond thrilled I am here. In introducing me to visitors, they describe me as easy going, great with kids and dogs and extremely lovable/pettable. With my dashing set of white feet and collared neckline, no one can resist stopping by to say "hi." When we meet, try not to stare at my rump. Somewhere along the line, my tail went "missing." Truth be known, I was born without a tail but telling people it "went missing" makes for a great opening line. Smile. Smile. Feluk+

Found just one foot from a busy road, my family really lucked out in landing a spot here at CFC. My mom, Goldilocks did her best to keep me and my siblings, Dijon and Colby safe, but in the end she needed a helping paw which she found through CFC.

Matilda
E-mail to a friend
This compact little girl kitty was born in 1995 and is quite comfortable with humans as well as other cats. Matilda loves to be spoken to and doted on - when she’s in the mood, of course. Once she gets to know you, she’ll make a great little companion. She doesn’t like being held, but she enjoys being groomed and petted. Matilda would probably do best in a home with one or two adults, and friendly, laid-back kitty companions.

Melody

Arriving in March 2010 from a high kill shelter with 4 darling little kittens in tow, Melody purred a huge sigh of relief as her whole family was now safe. Melody was a super mom to her babies and made sure that they were well behaved and growing like weeds before embarking on her new life here at the sanctuary. Melody has now set up shop with a whole roomfull of other kitties. One of the smallest in this group, Melody can often be found lounging in the sun on the screened in porch. She will quietly come over to you and share some words of wisdom and body rubs if given the chance. A tiny little package of love, Melody knows how to "sing" her way into your heart!

Hi! My name is Mercury and I alongside my good buddy and best friend, Jake hold very important positions here at CFC. You see, we are in charge of overseeing Jewel (Vet Tech) and her staff as they use OUR kitchen to prepare meals for the furry residents. With some residents receiving twice daily feedings, you can only imagine how busy we are day in day out. When not at work, I love sacking out in the screened in porch area off the kitchen or reclining near the microwave where I am apt to pick up a lot of free neck and body rubs. I am a very friendly, social guy and really turn the heads with my sleek, all black jacket and intense golden eyes. I am FIV positive but have been very healthy.

For an older gentleman such as myself, I have learned some pretty nifty tricks along the way. The staff loves to come and watch me put on my special show of standing on my rear legs and pawing at the air. What really garners a lot of applause though is when they try to pet my face. I am fast to turn my head in the opposite direction leaving my new aquaintance to wonder what had just happened. LOL. But don't get me wrong! I love all over body rubs and am a very sweet, easy going kitty. I love hanging out with other cats and am fast to reward a human visitor with deep purring and mini cat words. Come by soon and we will sit for spell! FIV+

The other cats in my room sometimes point their paws at me and call me the "Food Lion Fellow." You see, before landing in my kitty condo here at CFC, I was found wandering around a Food Lion parking lot. Since arriving, my days of scavaging for food are over! Yabba, dabba. Mary and her team whip up fabulous fare every day which makes me purr and smile. In coming to visit me, you will likely find me perched in a cat tree or condo. In these safe areas, I will gladly roll over and accept belly rubs and will also head butt your hand. I am told my jet black fur feels just like velvet, so have at it! In the open areas of my "room" I am a bit nervous so you might see me making mad dashes to safety. These sprints allow me to keep my slender physique and add to my mysterious aura. Stop by today and let me show you how fast and yes, dashing I am!

I am the cat that all the other cats love! Here at CFC as I watch the world go by perched way atop one of the kitty condos, other cats eagerly hop up to visit with me to share the latest gossip on the other residents here in my room. Now when it comes to people, I must admit I am still a bit leary of all of you! Smile, smile. I am the one who will let out a mini hiss when you try to pet me and my ears will probably go flat. I am sure you appreciate my honesty and in fact might find it very refreshing. While I show an intense interest in what humans are doing in my room, for now having that extra distance between myself and "them" really works for me. The staff and volunteers are very patient with me and who knows in time I might actually send you a note to please stop by and say hello. Don't give up on me yet!!

These things don't keep dear Nobel down, though - he takes his job seriously, stretching out on the counter as the staff wash and dry food bowls.

HI! My name is Onyx and I am a very sleek, all black girl with stunning golden eyes. I was found semi-feral in the yard of a kind family. When it was time for them to move, it was likewise time for me to find a new home, so here I am! I have come a long way since the family took me under their wing, but even I must admit I have a ways to go. Since arriving at CFC, I have done an excellent job in mingling with the other kitties in my "room" and have also found the perfect "perch" on the porch. When you come to visit me for example, look for the cubicle which is in the shape of a wedge of cheese. I adore hanging out here and on more than one occasion I could have sworn I heard staff members referring to me as the "Cheese Cat." This makes me laugh and feel good as I know they are thinking about me and rooting for me. Come stop by today. I'll keep the light on in my block of cheese!

This very sweet, playful girl was transferred from the SPCA as a kitten in August of 2007, after she tested Positive for FELV. She comes running the moment the door is opened to her room. She would need to be the only kitty in the home, or go to a home with another FELV Positive cat.

I have been touched by a STAR! You see, I was found as a stray by a local Country Music Radio personality. Just when I thought my luck could not get any better, I heard I had been accepted into the exclusive "Spa CFC." Since arriving here, I quickly set up shop on the main tiered cat post where level 4 is my "official" mailing address. At this location, I eagerly accept head rubs and will enthusiastically reward you with a purr and all over body wiggle. The other kitties, whom I adore, love to comment on how my tongue protrudes from my mouth. What they don't realize is that since I have almost no teeth, my tongue has free reign of my face! No worries as I eat like any normal feline. I'll keep the light on at "Level 4" and will look forward to sharing with you my sweet and gentle personality. FELV+

I am all the talk in my room! With a name like Purrl, you can only imagine the hissy-fits my roommates have as they insist THEY are the king/queen of purring. I pay no real mind to them as I have the name (and they don't!!) and I do a great job in purring. I feel the name really suits me. Since arriving here with my best friend, Topaz when our caregivers could no longer provide for us, I have adjusted remarkably well. I am a very friendly lady who will quietly nudge you for attention and reward you with yes, purrs! I am a gentle, peaceful kitty who has a quirky head tilt and slight vision problems due to an unfortunate doggy run in years ago. I don't let this slow me down and frankly thrive in the extra attention I receive as a result. Come on by and give me a droplet of your affection!

HI! My name is Shane and I had to pack my bags and head to CFC after a fire destroyed by person's home. After living with my person for over 9 years, you can imagine the period of adjustment I have needed since my arrival at the sanctuary. I must say however that I have done a really super job. I have really grown to love the outside porch area which I share with other kitties and can oftentime be found in the upper left corner watching the day go by. I am open to limited petting sessions and am working on warming up to meeting and greeting new human friends every day. When I meet people for the first time, they are quick to comment on how handsome I am with my thick, plush "jacket" of black fur. What's particularly cool, or so they say, are the intermittant whisps of white hair speckled all over my body. I have found mixing with new friends, human and feline, to be exciting and also rewarding and I look forward to the perfect family coming for me!

You see, Christmas 2009 I was hit by a car and my head and frankly my whole body took a big hit. I am a sweet, cuddly and yes, fun little guy but my skills in proficiently bouncing remain are a tad below average. After months of rehab, I am proud to announce that I happily wander around and explore the main work area at the Scratching Post where the staff prepares meals for kitties and tends to their laundry. Already, I have made a lot of friends (see my picture with Harriett , the hound for example who has taken it upon herself to make sure I am doing ok). Tuxey
E-mail to a friend
HI! Every day when I wake up, I am ready to go to some fancy affair (you may have noticed I am perpetually dressed in a tux!) but sadly growing up semi feral in an outside environment, those opportunities were not abundantly available for me. My luck has changed however since arriving at CFC. For openers, I was able to quickly set up shop with some other shy kitties in my room who envite me over to their cage top perches to watch the day go by. I adore hanging out with my new feline friends and have slowly allowed staff to favor me with mini pets and scratches. I am still a work in progress but, hey progress is exciting. Come stop by and be a part of it.

Venus

Found hanging out in a woodpile with her mom and 4 siblings, Venus knew she could do better. Much better! Arriving at CFC, she quickly integrated with the other kitties in her room and now delights in activating feather toys and unsuspecting catnip mice left unattended. Exceptionally beautiful as her name implies, our goddess of beauty and love is ready to pack her bags and head on home!

Dear Victor, born in approx. 2003, was transferred from another rescue facility after he tested Positive for FELV. This handsome guy is very people-oriented. He loves to butt heads and cuddle, and will stay in your lap forever! Victor is also known for wrapping his paws around your neck to give you a hug! He's very calm and gentle, and also enjoys playing with toys. As an only kitty, or in a home with another FELV Positive cat, this sweet kitty will reward you with lots of love!!

Willow
E-mail to a friend
This sweet kitty was pregnant when she came to CFC as part of a colony of cats who could no longer be properly cared for. She was a great mommy, but is happy to kick back and relax now that her kittens can fend for themselves! Born in approx. June of 2007, Willow is a tender, loving cat who loves attention and is always purring for more! Note: Still in "stock," are two of her kittens (now full grown), Tater and Cheerio.

Wm-Wallace
E-mail to a friend
HI! My name is William Wallace and I have been told I am the "caretaker" of the room which I share with many other furry friends. I am the first to respond and break up cat fights in my room and I often lend a soft paw and ear to a fellow kitty who has just been stressed by a recent nail clipping. With a few years under my belt and having started out living on the streets of Richmond, I have seen and experienced a lot! Some of the things I enjoy today tend to be more basic and simple. For example, catnip and toys always put a huge smile on my face and gentle petting/holding sessions always cause me to thump my tail with overall contentment. Stop by today and see why one of our most valuable volunteers has selected to sponsor me out of all the kitties here at CFC. I think it is a sign that I am unbelieveably special. I am FIV positive but have been very healthy.

Wyatt

Arriving with his two siblings, Cole and Lena who are also a striking solid black, this shy trio was quickly nicknamed the "Three-Headed Monster" as they would huddle under one of the kitty condos on wheels and periodically peek out to see if the coast was clear.

I have been described as exotically handsome and someone who demands respect. Having lived an independent life in a cat colony in the big city of Alexandria, I learned to be quick on my feet and to provide for myself. While I am acclimating to having my every need met at CFC, I still pride myself in having an independent streak. I challenge you to come check me out and win over my heart! FELV+
