  • HISTORY: Max along with his two doggy friends were surrendered at a high kill shelter when his family moved and could not take them along.  While his 2 friends were re-homed,  sadly Max was not selected and when the shelter was running out of space, he was placed on an urgent list.  We spoke up for him before it was too late.

Meet Max! Max arrived at CFC in January 2019 from a high-kill shelter when his time there ran out. An extremely handsome black and tan mix who weighs about 45 pounds, Max is a total love bug, polite, and people-oriented. A quintessential “velcro” dog, he will stick by your side, watching you with his gorgeous amber eyes as though you are the best thing to come along since canned dog food! A home with slightly older children would be a good match for Max’s gentle nature.

Max also has a goofy, fun-loving side that emerges when he’s handed a stuffed toy. He will joyously sprint around, tossing the toy in the air and trying to catch it. He might gently take it by its nose or foot and then blissfully roll around in the grass for a while too.

Max is easy to walk on leash and does not pay attention to other dogs as he passes them. However, since he entered shelter life, his face to face interactions with dogs have been unpredictable. We know he lived with a male and female dog in his prior home (his family left him at the previous shelter when they moved), and all three dogs got along fine, so we will continue to watch to see if his preference evolves.

If you ask people who have met Max to describe him, there is a good chance you will hear the words, “he melts.” There is no better way to describe what happens as Max leans against you, and his body softens and “melts” into your lap–but words don’t do it justice, so don’t wait any longer! Come meet Max and experience it for yourself! You’ll be glad you did.
