CORNELIA

HISTORY: Cornelia along with her brothers found their way to CFC to assist two neighbors trying to control their stray population.

My big brother Caesar must have gotten most of the extrovert genes in our little family, for I am more the introvert.  Being introverted doesn’t mean that I’m not sweet-tempered, peaceful, sensitive, and capable of receiving and giving lots of love. With a personality that is equal parts gentleness and bashfulness, there is ample room for me to grow into the purrfect companion. I get a little overwhelmed by the rush of everyone to greet visitors to our room and hang back to observe the activities. Visit with me while I lie in my bed on a shelf and I often will just flop with a half roll to encourage you to love on me gently. Scratch my chin and you’ll begin what I hope will be a beautiful friendship. It may take more patience to develop our relationship and gain my absolute trust, but the rewards will make the effort well worth it.”

Update July 2026: CORNELIA is getting her groove back! Not long ago, we all mourned the loss of SUZIE Q – perhaps not nearly as much as her bestie Cornelia. The 2 of them had been inseparable for seemingly like forever, but wouldn’t you know it, Cornelia has turned a new page and it’s a great page to read!!

Cornelia has been spotted outside on the catio!! Yes! Who would have thought? She’s enjoying this dreadful heat spread out as flat as a pancake on the cement! When not outside, she’s been snuggling with Sweettart in her bed. The 3 of them (Cornelia, Suzie Q and Sweettart) were previously spending more time together, so this was a natural transition for the 2 of them less Suzie Q. The blue plastic tub nearby remains empty as if a nod to a friendship and life that ended with Suzie Q’s passing. While we miss Suzie Q, we are happy to see Cornelia making the most of her days by tapping into others in her room. Way to go Cornelia!

Update May 2024:  Cornelia is one sweet, hard working senior.  This lady, by her own accord or not,  is the rock and lifeline to uber shy kitty cat Suzie Q.  While Cornelia is still a reserved kitty to us humans, Suzie Q has found strength and companionship in her black and white look a like friend.  It’s a rare day for example that you won’t find the two of them in a bed spooning and talking in the sights.  Most typically inside on one of the shelves,  should Cornelia exit the comfy, secure bed area and relocate to another equally posh spot,  in no time Suzie Q has quietly and most stealthily slipped into the bed to be by her side.   And who said 3’s Company?  More recently,  solid black boy Cole has also been slipping into bed with this pair so perhaps there’s something to be said that there is safety in numbers?  LOL.  In any event, we are super proud of our brave girl and her contributions to her room.
