BANDIT

HISTORY:  Bandit is a driveway kitty from Sanctuary Lane.

Trust continues to be a big issue with me. As a “driveway kitty,” my exposure to humans was limited and not always positive so my new life here at the sanctuary is still one of transition and accepting humans.  I entertain myself playing with the toys in my room and some days I’m relaxing top of a condo, in a special hutch kind of like a large doll house and or I may be outside on the patio sunning. I have a larger footprint especially with my poofy coat and having been here some time now, it’s safe to say I’ve welcomed many kitties to the room.  I try to help them settle in.   Right now, I’m favoring kitties Tatum, Tango and or Sadie.  Some of my favorite volunteers, Candy and Ed and John and Shannon, even manage to pet me for a short while if I am in a good mood!  There’s hope for this boy. I’m quite shy but within resides a sweet and gentle guy.

Dec Update 2025: Our big boy BANDIT continues to be a work in progress. Volunteer John regularly bribes him with treats (he does this with another kitty with a similar “attitude”) and Volunteer Shannon is on board with the treat program as well. The goal: getting him to accept us and maybe sneak in a pet or two…”like” us is not in the cards we figure but maybe, just maybe, “accept” is. No treats? Our advise is to keep your distance. Bandit is never lacking in feline friends and Tango continues to be one of his close, steady companions with shy girl Kadie also making some steady appearances with him. With the colder weather on tap, Bandit is more often inside on the top of a condo keeping an eye on us humans. Volunteer Scott recently commented, “I don’t think I’ve ever seen his rear paws as he is always lying down.” And so it goes with Bandit. No news is good news in our world and with Bandit’s health intact, let’s see if the mood strikes him anytime soon to allow others to pet him!!

Fall Update 2025: The humans continue to pamper me and know not to get too close to actually love on me. For this I am most grateful!! Volunteers John and Shannon however will proudly boast that they can randomly pet me with the assist of some very high value treats but for the rest of the humans, try at your own risk but it’s just not recommended. My days are mostly filled with lounging with my good friend Tango on top of a condo and if I’m feeling froggy, I’ll head outside to the patio to relax in what once was an enormous doll house. Inside, I’ll typically find my lady friends Tatum, Julia and Sadie all hunkered down looking for another low human contact day…just like me! LOL I’m healthy and life is good. Bandit

Spring Update 2025: I love my 6 Fish snacks and many of the other cats in my room, but the humans….well, I may have ever so slowly added a few to my mix but our relationship mostly hinges on those treats! LOL. Volunteers John and Shannon and maybe 1-2 staff can now randomly pet me, but please, oh please, short sessions only! My desire, as you know now, is to hang with other kitties. Typically, you’ll find me on and or in a large wooden 2 level house (maybe it was designed as a doll house??) chilling with kitties Julia, Tatum and or Sadie. For a change of pace, maybe I’ll chill on the top of a condo with orange tabby Tango. I’m never really alone and want for nothing. I have amazing room service options and top notch housekeeping service thanks to your support.
