Join our severe weather corps of people who will assist one or more of our dogs for a brief time when we have extremes in weather. By helping, you will ensure that ALL of our dogs are comfortable during extreme cold snaps and heat waves.

Contact us and we’ll arrange for you to take one of our dogs home for a brief period.  We’ll send you a questionnaire to fill out so that we can match the right dog with your home environment, or, let us know if you have someone in mind!

If you can help or have any questions, please contact Diane White at CFCHome@aol.com, or call Caring for Creatures at 434-842-2404.
Also, please ask us about our longer term foster opportunities for both dogs and cats!

WE’RE AVAILABLE FOR AN EXTREME SLEEPOVER:

JEAN has lived in a home and is fully house and crate trained.  She recently aced a sleepover with one of our volunteers!

GINGER has already aced an extreme sleepover.  This sweet, gentle girl gets along with other dogs and cats.

No stranger to sleepovers, ROOK has proven to be an excellent house guest.  Gets along with other dogs and cats.

Sweet, gentle AUTUMN is very respectful of indoor spaces and appears to be house trained.

Funny, affectionate TRAPPER lived in a home for 4 years, is house trained and gets along well with cats.

Super sweet PEGGY knows no strangers and sleeps with a stuffed toy every night.  She’s best suited in a home without other dogs or cats.

This list is not inclusive.  Please inquire with us if you are interested in fostering a dog who is not listed above.

Lindsay 1Lindsay was brought to our sanctuary in March of 2014, physically and mentally spent.  We did our best to save her, but her kind, generous spirit left this world a few short weeks later.  A lot happened during these two weeks – we were reminded once again of the wonderfully gentle, graceful spirit of a hound. Lindsay was reminded that she mattered and that she was loved.

We couldn’t save Lindsay, but with your help, we can help to save other animals like her who find their way to Caring for Creatures.

Make a life-saving gift to LINDSAY’S LEGACY, a new fund created to honor this brave and special hound.  Read more about Lindsay’s Legacy in the YOU CAN HELP section of our website here.

Chilly, Santana and Pearl are just three examples of local dogs who were lucky enough to find their way to Caring For Creatures.  Chilly and Santana arrived very thin and weak and had to be treated for heart worms; in addition to heart worms, Santana needed medical care for tick-related diseases.   Lindsay’s departure surely opened up the door for another hound in need – Pearl.  Pearl brought with her a family of 5 newborns.  Today, Chilly, Santana and Pearl are happy and thriving and hoping one day to be in a forever home.  These dogs, and so many more just like them, need our help.  With your support, we can continue to save precious lives.

Postcard Revolution info resized

Join the Caring For Creatures Postcard Revolution and single-handedly make a positive difference in the world!

What is the Postcard Revolution?

With news of extreme violence and discontent arriving with alarming regularity, we often experience increasing levels of fear, sadness and helplessness.  In the Postcard Revolution, you are armed with fun postcards.  You add a brief message of love and good cheer, and mail to a friend, family member, or co-worker – anyone and everyone.  The more the merrier!  This is one revolution we feel will result in lots of smiles and positive feelings.  It is our hope that this Postcard Revolution will, in some small way, provide a way to take back our power by choosing to extend a little love and kindness back into the world.

The postcards are sold in a pack of ten 4″ x 6″ cards – five each of one of our sanctuary dogs and cats (see below).  The cost is $10.00 per pack of ten.  You choose whether you would like to pick them up at CFC  or have them shipped to you at an additional charge of $2.50 regardless of how many packs of 10 you order.

$10.00/package of 10 postcards

5 Lucille (dog) and 5 Julie (cat) cards

The dollars raised by the postcard sales will go directly to offset the costs of caring for the 200 animals who currently reside at Caring For Creatures.
