Dilute Calico

HISTORY: Ellie was brought to CFC when her human was no longer able to provide care.

Meet Ellie, the delightful dilute tortoiseshell! Her fur is incredibly soft, making petting her feel like cuddling a cloud! Ellie came to CFC several years ago, thanks to her savior, a long-time donor, who rescued her from a life on the streets while she was pregnant with a litter of kittens, all of whom found loving homes. Afterward, she returned to her savior and enjoyed a peaceful life together until, sadly, he fell ill and was unable to care for her any longer.

Ellie returned to CFC last summer and settled into The Scratching Post Kitchen as a resident. Both staff and volunteers quickly grew fond of her. While Ellie was eager to interact with people, she wasn’t particularly fond of the other cats roaming around the kitchen. She had her own spacious condo where she could relax until it was time for her to explore outside of it. Once she was ready, Ellie claimed a scratching tree at the entrance, where she loved to perch at the top, welcoming everyone as they arrived.

In her previous home, Ellie had another cat in the home with her, Blackie who is also a resident of CFC, they never shared the same space in the home. During her time in the kitchen, she did not interact with the other cats and often would warn them away. One of CFCs volunteers observed a shift in Ellie’s demeanor, sensing that she was becoming stressed due to the presence of other cats. In response, she generously offered to take Ellie home to foster her until she finds a forever home.

Ellie has been in her foster home for a month now, and she is doing remarkably well. As soon as she ar- rived at her foster home, she eagerly explored her room and discovered her favorite spot for observing the bird feeder. “She is the queen of lap cats – when one of us is in the room with her, she immediately settles on our lap. She has taken an interest in her toys and likes a good session with the cat wand.” Ellie has met the foster dog; while they aren’t quite ready to be friends yet, she feels at ease sharing the same room with her.

We believe that Ellie would thrive best in a household where she is the sole cat or in a home that has a dog friendly toward felines. If you’re interested in welcoming Ellie into your home, please visit our website and complete an adoption application.
