GASTON

HISTORY: Gaston was rescued from a hoarding situation by Fluvanna County Animal Control. He was then transferred to CFC by FSPCA after testing positive for FIV.

Take a look at Gaston, one of CFC’s more introverted felines. We believe that, prior to his residency here at CFC, his social interactions with humans were limited, thereby hindering his ability to form trusting relationships and receiving affection.

Gaston is making incredible strides in overcoming his shyness around people, and he even occasionally welcomes pets. He has found his place among the other felines in the FIV room at The Scratching Post. You may sometimes find him curled up near one of the other cats taking a nap. Although for the most part he values his alone time, often retreating to a cozy cat tree hidey-hole or exploring the catio in warmer weather. Gaston does not appear to be interested in cat toys, at least not when people are around him.

We believe Gaston needs a cat savvy person who is committed to dedicating their time and energy into gaining his trust.

Volunteer Update February 2025: I come in peace. I’m quiet and subdued and would not dare to even think about creating any conflict in my room. There’s always a lot of going and doing and action in my room and I’m the guy who nicely sits on the sidelines and takes it all in. It’s not unusual to find me resting inside something comfy- think a cat cube, a cubby hole in a cat tree or even a large open container on the top of one of the condos. I’m a sweet, very docile fella who loves being pet and I enjoy human attention but I’m not going to follow you around and beg for it! I am an eternally great natured kitty even withstanding being stepped on by another kitty (who shall remain nameless) as they pushed their way to get in front of me while the camera lady was taking my photos. I’m a little bit of an old timer with many pet years under my paws, but even the older guys…such as myself…bring so much wisdom and knowledge to their new home. If the desire is to have a calming, loving companion in your life, I’d love to show you how perfect I could be to fill that need. Please ask for me, GASTON. Remember, I’ll likely be quietly napping in a more contained and low action zone in my room. Hope to see you soon!
