MR. MEOWGI

HISTORY: Mr. Meowgi was surrendered from a large unmanaged cat colony with ~100 cats.

When Mr. Meowgi arrived at CFC he was extremely shy of people and was not interested in any kind of attention from people. In his former life at the colony he had very few social interactions with people and as a result he hadn’t learned to trust humans and accept affection.

Fast forward a few months….
It seems from the moment Mr. Meowgi’s condo doors were opened for him to come out to explore his new area, he slowly decided that people were ok. He began allowing our very patient and loving volunteers to pet him. Not long after he decided people were wonderful and is now is a extremely loving and affectionate kitty! He will follow you around and rub against your legs seeking attention. He is allowing the people he trusts to pick up him up for cuddles!

Mr. Meowgi gets along well with the other cats in his room at The Scratching Post. He spends a great deal of his day cat napping in fellow former colony cat, Dill’s, condo. He hasn’t shown interest in cat toys at the moment, at least not while humans are around.

We believe he would do well in a home with another compatible cat he can be friends with.

More about me November 2024: Oh my heart be still.  Say it isn’t so but our most fabulous and magnificent of feline beings turned an amazing and most sharp corner from when he first arrived and he is just the BEST today!  Arriving super hissy, spitting and down right scary,  we gave Mr Meowgi plenty of time and space so to see him do a full 360 and now welcome us as dearly and closely as he does today, is anything but just shy of a miracle.  

We must give due credit to one of our regular volunteers John who bravely put on long leather gloves and began the process of acclimating Mr Meowgi to his new environment.  Other volunteers likewise chipped in their calming presence and mannerisms and ways to help Mr Meowgi transform into the big mush that he is today.

Mr Meowgi calls L2 Room his home and it’s not unusual to find him near the door when you enter.  He will be majestically sitting and or lounging around.  He might even be on top of a condo,  but it’s ok to climb up to his level and introduce yourself.  Chances are decent that once you do so,  he’ll hop on down to spend even more time with you.  Take the time to stroll over to him and offer up a slow, calm hand and then let the loving begin.   Mr Meowgi can still have some moments of caution but he might say he’s near to perfect right now!  We are beyond pleased with his progress and we are hopeful through osmosis and/or also by action,  he will be able to show some of his shy friends in the room…ie Elliot and or close friend Dill, that the 2 leggeds are cool and wish them no harm and that we come in peace.
