Male

DSH- Brown tabby with white boots and white chest blaze.

HISTORY: Pickle was surrendered from a large unmanaged cat colony with ~100 cats.

When Pickle first came to the sanctuary, he was understandably scared, much like many of the other colony cats. He hid behind his litter box, feeling vulnerable. In his previous life at the colony, Pickle had limited interactions with humans, which led to his inability to trust them or embrace affection.

During his time at the sanctuary, Pickle has made significant strides. While he remains somewhat shy around newcomers, once he establishes trust, he readily accepts pets and affection. He loves being petted, whether it’s a gentle scratch behind the ears or full-body strokes! If he feels he hasn’t had enough, he’ll raise his paw as if to pull your hand back for more attention!

Pickle enjoys engaging in interactive play with a wand toy, leaping and pouncing into the air to catch it. Pickle enjoys a good rapport with the other cats at The Scratching Post, although he doesn’t always actively seek their company. He is perfectly content to spend his time alone, whether it’s napping or exploring the room. In the warmer weather Pickle enjoys spending much of his time on the catio, observing all the happenings outside.

We think Pickle would thrive in a home with another cat who shares similar interests. If you’re interested in adopting him, please visit our website and complete an adoption application.

Volunteer Update February 2025: Ask anyone about our tabby friend PICKLE and they will break out in a smile, eager to share all of his awesomeness with YOU! Pickle had a tougher start to life as he eked out an existence at the local colony we are slowly shutting down. Arriving understandably pretty shy and reserved, he has totally brought forth his A game as a kitty and is so ready to put his pet skills to use full time in his first ever home. Pickle is a lovely cat inside and outside. If he’s not the very first greeter in his room, he’ll be the second and he’ll wish to follow you around and be near you. While Pickle is not “yet” a lap cat, pretty good chance that skill set is in his blood and will show its appealing face with time. He is ok and pretty calm should you need to tote him around but honestly, what he enjoys most is simply being near his humans. He loves being pet and stroked and any attention is good attention in his book. Pickle will sashay and do circles around you and also on cat trees hoping to catch your eye as you stroll about. No doubt, Pickle’s best friend is Hiccup (tabby kitty) who arrived from the colony about the same time that he arrived. It’s a real joy to watch the two of the prowl around, nicely interacting, engaging and complimenting each other. Pickle is equally as good/comfortable around other cats as he is with us humans, Polite and well mannered, Pickle is a regal, simply lovely kitty who will make an amazing pet. We can’t wait to meet the family that gets to call him their new best friend. Perhaps that person is you?
