SMOOSH

HISTORY: Smoosh was surrendered from a local unmanaged cat colony.

Meet Smoosh, an endearing tabby with a heartwarming story . Smoosh was destined to be returned to her outdoor home after her spay . However , her journey took an unexpected turn. While at the vet’s office, it was discovered that Smoosh had only two teeth. This revelation led to a change in her fate. It was decided that, due to her dental condition, she would be better off living at the sanctuary where she could receive the care and protection she needed, rather than returning to the colony.

Initially, Smoosh was quite shy . The cats from the colony often have little to no interaction with humans, making it difficult for them to trust and accept affection. However , Smoosh’s story is one of resilience. In the nearly three months since she arrived at the sanctuary, Smoosh has made remarkable progress. Gradually , she has started to open up, permitting people to pet her and demonstrating signs of trust. While she is somewhat shy about her head, if you take your time and let her take the lead in the interaction, she truly relishes her petting sessions!

Currently, we are uncertain about how she interacts with other cats since she is still in her condo 24/7. However , she does have the opportunity to observe the cats she shares her space with as they play around in The Scratching Post Kitchen. We believe that, with time, Smoosh may grow curious and start to engage with them. Her quiet observation is a promising sign that she is acclimating to her new environment. We hope that, as her confidence builds, she will begin to make new feline friends and feel even more at home.

Volunteer Thought: We love SMOOSH and as much as she looks like ET, how could we not just swarm and be captivated by her distinctive appearance? Smoosh is a very, very tiny kitty- perhaps borderlining a dwarf cat – tipping the scales around 6lbs.    With her distinctive look including her crimped whiskers, she’s a real head turner.  Arriving very shy,  she’s made tremendous progress and today,  we can say she likes us humans!  For an ET girl, that’s great news for all.  Smoosh has worked very hard to finetune her pet skills and nothing would make her and well, us happier than for YOU to ask about her today.  What a delightful young lady.
