GRU

Male

Bully Mix

Gru has spent all of his life in captivity. For almost three years he lived in a small wire crate in a filthy hoarding house. Now he lives in a kennel at our shelter. Please help us get him in a real home. He has waited literally his entire life. Gru weighs about 45 lbs, is very dog friendly, child friendly, playful, energetic, affectionate and sweet, but not a fan of cats. We pulled him in June from a terrible hoarding situation where he lived in a small filthy wire crate for almost 24 hours a day and was mostly neglected. He lived in his tiny crate for almost 3 years.

Despite his past, he is a sweet, loving and trusting dog who loves people and being outside. He likes to play and then relax in the grass, watch birds, sniff the air and be with people. He especially loves children and is very gentle with them. And he also loves car rides, especially if he can look out the window. He has a zest for life- a resilient and sweet guy. He has a heart murmur and is being treated for it, but he lives a normal life. We think the heart murmur is part of the reason that he hasn’t been adopted, along with his behavior when people first meet him. He whines, almost screams, and gets very excited. People seem put off by the noise he makes, although those of us who love him know it’s just Gru being so excited to receive attention. It’s really sad that his enthusiasm gets him rejected.

He enjoys walks but would not be a candidate for a jogging partner due to the heart murmur. Neutered and utd on all vetting. Gru has never lived in a real home or had a family. It’s his turn. Please consider helping this amazing soul who has been let down by humans but still loves them. He is named Gru because he has the outline of the cartoon character Gru on his right side.
