HISTORY: Cora was living outside at a HOWS client’s house and was deteriorating emotionally and physically. We opened our doors to help Cora.
How do you spell elegant, charming and classy? We spell it C-O-R-A! Folks, just when you thought you had seen a runway model doggy- one who is refined, graced with impeccable manners and plenty of curb appeal- you’ll need to look again at our Cora who is all of this and much, much more! Cora has led a pretty unfilled pet life- first used as a breeder dog until she could no longer have pups and then living outside in a backyard – weathering the very cold winters and super hot summer, along with upwards of 20 other dogs.
We are so excited to now have her under our care so she can be the treasured pet that she was destined to be! Cora is kind and gentle, very friendly and nuzzly and truly accepting of all. Since her arrival here, we have had her working in our front office which has been a perfect fit for her. She’s terrific in meeting folks as they enter our busy office space, is quiet and never pushy and or in anyone’s way. No doubt, it does not hurt for the casual visitor to have such a beauty dressing up our office and welcoming them with such charm and graciousness.
For overnights, Cora has hit the jackpot in heading home with a staff member. In the home environment, she has been outstanding. She is still not 100% housetrained but getting very close to achieving that goal. She is beautifully sharing her “foster” home with several kids (some of which are noisy!!) and she is a hit with everyone! Respectful of the home setting (no counter surfing, not destructive, no need for a crate), Cora is a good listener and if you say, “No, no!,” she gets it! She is also extremely soft mouthed, very treat motivated and sits beautifully for a snack. As her personality slowly emerges, we are learning that she can have fun bouts of “zoomies,” she loves watching the tv show NCIS and also thinks she’s an ideal lap dog… yes, 100+ lbs of her!!
As much as Cora enjoys the home setting, this girl also loves leash walking and going for rides in the car. Open that car door and she’s in!! No doubt she loves the actual car ride, but perhaps even more she enjoys the idea of what adventure might await her at the end of the car ride. Cora is curious and loves to be in the mix of things but always is very polite and diplomatic in her ways.
Arriving severely underweight at just 83lbs (100+ lbs is an ideal weight for her) and sporting a very sparse coat, Cora is really starting to shine under our care. We can’t wait to meet the family that gets to call this amazing girl their new best friend and full time 24/7 pet. Might you be the one to show Cora what it feels like to be a treasured companion pet?? If you are that person, please let’s hear from you!!
