PRECIOUS SNUGGLE BUNNY LOOKING FOR HER FIRST EVER FULL TIME PET JOB!

HISTORY: I was brought to the sanctuary by the HOWS Project as an owner surrender with my friend and pen mate Hazel.

What Hazel Needs in Her Home: Honey and her pen mate Hazel have been with each other outside for some time now, but we feel they both would thrive better in a home with each other or with another confident dog based on how shy they are at this point. Honey is definitely the more shy one of the two, so will need a little more time to get to know you. Once that happens, she will give you all the kisses and loving. She also enjoys using her scent skills to explore her surroundings and all the new smells. Honey is learning to leash walk and will be a little nervous about how to be a part of the family until she can figure out a little more about how life goes. Having lived in an outside pen for many years, she will need some practice at being inside and will need some help at house training, too. She is truly a love bug!

More about me May 2024: How do you spell cute and adorable?  We spell it H-O-N-E-Y and H-A-Z-E-L!!  Oh boy folks,  these delightful, darling beagles will have you at “hello” as soon as you meet.  Silly, goofy, affectionate, playful and so eager to work for any love and attention,  they are fun central.  When they first arrived, they pretty much kept to themselves …think nose to the ground and coexisting with you and were not even very skilled leash walkers.  Fast forward a few weeks and they have pet skills ready to impress you!!

Today these tri-colored girls are bouncy and happy and the second you sit down, they are clambering to get into your lap! They are swarmers! Count on plenty of kisses, wiggling hips and hugs everywhere from this lively pair of beagle goodness. They are smaller framed at 18lbs (Honey) and 24lbs (Hazel) and are such busy bees as they check out new spaces and then happily trot right back over to you to plant a wet one on your hand! Honey has a strong puppy feel to her and Hazel still has moments of shyness but those moments are becoming almost a distant memory.  Their leash walking is spot on and the two of them will beautifully walk shoulder to shoulder as YOU head out for an exploratory journey.  We can’t wait to see who gets to bring this great pair home as they will have hit the beagle lottery!!

Foster Update:

7/26/24:

Overall, the girls are great, just living their best lives right now. They like going out to use the bathroom but prefer the indoors, especially Hazel.

They say “opposites attract”, well outgoing Honey and shy Hazel are bonded best friends. These cute little girls would brighten up any household. Both girls are housebroken, great with other dogs and cats, good with school aged kids, and wonderfully crate trained. One of their favorites things is evening lap snuggles after dinner.

6/26/24:
The girls are doing great! They are absolute sweethearts!! I do not understand how they haven’t been adopted yet.

The ladies are wonderful with both kids. They have zero interest in the cat.

Honey and Hazel are near perfect ladies. Where 1 lacks, the other makes up. Best friends but also opposites.
Honey is the extrovert. She’s an adventurous, tiny bit food driven, curious little girl. She would do great in a home with other furry friends (cats and dogs). Also would do great in a home with children. She loves running around the yard with the 3 year old and doesn’t seem to mind the loud yelling. She does have an interest in chewing on kids toys- so a watchful eye would be needed. But don’t worry, she’ll trade that toy for a doggy chew toy any day.

Hazel is the introvert. Likes to be with herself most of the time. A little curious about some items in the house, but still a little skiddish. She would also do great in a home with other furry friends (cats and dogs). When it comes to children, older kids might be the best bet. The loud yelling and running around does scare her sometimes. Some wonderful characteristics about Hazel include- zero interest with chewing anything except dog toys, loves to snuggle in someone’s lap, and almost never barks.

Both girls love going on their evening walks. Learning to walk on the leash hasn’t been hard, but still a work in progress. We see much potential. They were also wonderful car passengers. Laid down and slept the entire ride home.
