Scooby is a 1.5 year old yellow lab mix looking for a great home where he can snuggle on the couch and take long walks with his person. Scooby is currently in a foster home after being pulled off the euthanasia list at a local shelter due to overcrowding. Scooby is an upbeat, goofy guy who loves to be involved in whatever you are doing at home. He will quietly accompany you around the house and then settle on the couch with you when it is time to rest. His favorite place in the house is sitting on his bed and quietly watching squirrels out the window. While he is fairly low energy, Scooby is still young and therefore is still happy to play fetch with his toys and go on long walks outside. He can be convinced to go on jogs but he does not have much drive for long runs—he prefers peaceful walks where he can stop to sniff frequently.
Scooby walks very politely on a leash and is a smart boy who picks up new commands quickly. He has an affinity for finding the perfect stick to carry with him on walks and show off to the neighborhood. Scooby has thrived outside of the shelter in foster care and enjoys being in a lowkey home environment.
Scooby would do best with a home that is able to continue working on his socialization. Scooby is fearful of meeting new men and can be anxious in new environments. He has done very well with positive reinforcement training and has lived with men and met many new friends that he has done very well with after a slow introduction. He would thrive in a home that can continue helping him build his confidence. Because he is still young, he is working on not jumping up when he gets excited and therefore would do best in a home without young children. He has done well with meeting dog friends with a proper introduction. Scooby does not get along with cats.
Scooby is crate trained and does well in his crate when his people are out of the house. He is housebroken and nondestructive. He knows basic commands including: come, sit, down, wait, trade, and crate. He is neutered and up to date on vaccines and preventatives. He had a negative 4DX snap test in October when he was sent to his foster home. He weighs about 30 lbs.
