DILUTE CALICO
HISTORY: Callie along with her brother, Tawny were surrendered to CFC when their owners moved into assisted living.
What a sight for sore eyes! Folks, CALLIE is G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S! This velvet to touch sweet lady is fully out and about in her room and what a joy it is to see her calm and relaxed and enjoying our warmer weather. When we recently caught up with her, she was on the patio in a mid-rise cat tree reclining on her side and watching the grassy field area. While it can be tempting and with poor results to stroke a kitty’s belly area, this delightful lady was totally ok in having her new human friend touch and stroke her all over. She was wiggling and squirming on her back one minute and then on all fours giving us a glorious arched back. She had the company of another cat the next tier down and in general seemed unphased by all the cats in her vicinity. Very friendly and welcoming, she earned high marks for her trial run pet “interview” and can’t wait to get that real interview with you!
Fall Update 2025: Folks say, “She’s as sweet as ever.” Don’t make me blush, but alas I do think it’s true. I’m a bit of a creature of habit in that I’m most likely to be found outside on the patio at the end of the shelf closest to the wire screen. I love watching the outside world. From my vantage point, I can see and hear the birds, the big, loud mower and also volunteers as they head into some of our back trails with a dog in the lead. I’m a true friend to all- welcoming of the humans as they come to give me some TLC and also the other cats in my room. While I don’t have a bestie here, I might consider them all my “besties.” I still have my eye on the prize of a new full time pet position but til I am selected, I am healthy and want for nothing. Callie
Spring Update 2025: My volunteer friend Scott says I’m the best adoption candidate in my room. I hope he’s right. I just saw Melody (one of my roommates) go home, so maybe it IS my turn next. No worries really, as I’m doing well and with the warmer weather, I’m enjoying my corner perch on the catio shelf as I keep an eye on our open field area. Scott also adds to my days as he visits several times each week and makes sure that I get some wonderful all over body rubs, pets and scratches. With my health intact and daily housekeeping and lovely room service, I want for nothing.
Winter Update 2025: Folks are thinking I could be part Eskimo. Even with the more recent chilly temps, still I am outside on the catio. I love my perch on the shelf in the corner. It’s like a front row seat as I take in the sights and smells of the open field outside my fleece bed resort area. Get this! I even have been offered extra blankets…they might drape some on me to help keep me warm, but I push them off. They are not necessary! I’ll also share with you that I have not one but 2 special volunteers who call on me weekly. One is Scott who has been by my side since my arrival last year but I also have a newer volunteer friend Jaime who really likes me. Both of these wonderful humans make sure I get plenty of pets and tlc and general loving. I’m a lucky girl! With my health intact, I’m all set to enjoy the short, chilly winter days as I wait for my new family to discover me. I am grateful. CALLIE
