Female

DSH- White coat and a black cow pattern. Black “heart” on the tip of her nose!

HISTORY: Constance was found as a stray in a county with a high kill shelter. She was initially taken in for fostering when her foster mom learned she was pregnant. She had a litter of 5 kittens end of July. The kittens tested negative for FIV+ early winter and have been rehomed.   We accepted Constance into our program as she was out of options.

MEDICAL NOTE: FIV+

Spring Update 2025: I’m going to give myself a pat on my back. We’ve had a few new kitties added to the room and I’ve been a good girl. While I am not the welcoming committee by any stretch of the imagination, still I am not being a bully and making their transition difficult. As you know, I’m not a huge fan of other kitties but I’ve been keeping to myself and did I mention, I’ve been a good girl? LOL. The highlight of my day is no doubt when the humans come in. I keep a keen eye out for Volunteer Scott as he’s always good for some very skilled body rubs. It’s possible I may sneak up behind him looking for attention when he is on a set of steps in the room and when I see his lap is already taken…Uh, likely it’s Binx…I politely keep my distance and simply deliver a nice “Hiss” and go about my business. I’m in good health and look forward to the long, lazy days of summer ahead.

Winter Update 2025: It’s not even close to spring and already one of my human volunteer admirers, Scott is remarking on how good I look having lost some pounds. Bikini weather is still a good ways away but I can smile now knowing that maybe I’ll really look terrific when it’s time to soak up the rays in the summertime heat! LOL. Before the summer is here, when you come a callin,’ you’ll find me mostly inside on the window ledge in the most sunny spot. As you may have heard, we’ve recently welcomed in a couple of new felines to my room. I’ve been a good girl in mostly ignoring them and letting them settle in. I’m not a huge fan of other kitties (as you know), so I’m acting all grown up and being kind. Back to my friend Scott, he makes sure on his bi-weekly visits to give me some gentle pets and words of encouragement. He’s a nice man and I feel he understands me. With no new health issues, I’m on track to sport that summertime bikini down the road unless my new family finds me in the interim. I’m living a peaceful life and I am grateful. CONSTANCE

Fall 2024 Update: This past summer, I’ve been much more of a slow poke. I’ve not been as active as previously and will patiently wait for the humans to come and say “Hi” to me vs vice versa. It’s perhaps a new phase in my life? In any event, I’ve been working hard in not letting the other kitties in the room get the most and best of me. More recently, we had a couple of new kitties join our ranks and so far so good. I’m able to let them do drive by walks near me and we agree to simply ignore each other. Whew! I am still a creature of habit in terms of where you can find me in my room. Most days I’ll be soaking up sun on a shelf in my room but on occasion, I’ll slip outside and find a warm, quiet spot on a cat tree on the catio. With my health in check, I still hold out hope that the next person coming through the main door is here to interview me for my new pet position. I remain hopeful.
